Georgie's Story

Georgie’s Greek Taverna is more than just a food truck — it’s a tribute to family, tradition, and the flavors of Greece.

Named after my father, George Plaskasovitis — or “Georgie” as all my friends affectionately call him — our taverna is rooted in love and legacy. Georgie grew up on the beautiful island of Corfu, Greece, and came to the U.S. in 1964 at just 16 years old. He spent years working in some of Boston’s classic restaurants, eventually settling down with my mother, Maria, and raising our family.

My sister Stella and I were the only Greek kids in the neighborhood, and our home quickly became the spot for friends to gather around our table, enjoying home-cooked meals made from recipes passed down through generations. The sights, smells, and tastes of Greece were always a part of our lives — and now, I want to share that experience with you.

After retiring from the Sheriff’s Department, I knew it was time to bring authentic Greek food to our community — a place where it’s hard to find the real thing. Georgie’s Greek Taverna is my way of honoring my parents and sharing the flavors of our family’s kitchen with yours.

Come by, say hello, and enjoy a true taste of Greece — from our family to yours.

Opa!
